Sigma male is a slang term used in masculinist subcultures for a popular, successful, but highly independent and self-reliant man. Another term for a sigma male is a lone wolf.

Sigma male has seen most of its usage by the same members of what is known as the manosphere and who use other Greek letters to form a social hierarchy, such as alpha male, beta male, and omega male. The term has also been used to mock all of these labels used to categorize men. 

Sigma and Alpha men have a lot in common but the one thing that stands out the most is they both are high valued. They both have four unfakeable traits and that is, income above six figures for at least three years consecutively. They are visible and verified by all means. They have a strong network of other high valued men and their physical appearance is optimized beyond average. Sigmas tend to be introverted while Alphas are more likely extroverted. Being introverted and extroverted is probably the biggest difference between alpha and sigma. Women hypergamous nature greatly coincides with the male hierarchy status.

A man must have status, looks, financial stability and a masculine frame to be considered a one percenter. Majority of women goal is to find the best mate possible to reproduce with and lock in stability, which is the reason they date up on the male hierarchy. Every women wants a alpha/Sigma male but many are delusional to the fact they actually offer nothing to a man of that status. Majority of women don’t have what it takes to date a man of high status, even the below average woman doesn’t understand she’s not the prize. As perfectly stated by Rich Cooper, women don’t run the race they wait at the finish line for the winner. The alpha and sigma understands this that’s why they never focus on chasing women, they let women do the pursuing. Self inner/outer work is the most important thing for a man, accomplishing goals and raising your market value is the mindset of every high valued man.
