We may have heard of Queen Jezebel, but not all of us have heard of something known as a Jezebel spirit. The Bible never strictly has the words Jezebel spirit, but there are negative connotations and symbolism surrounding the name, Jezebel.
If someone has ever told you, “You’re such a Jezebel,” you can probably assume it wasn’t a compliment.
Jezebel, the wicked queen and wife to the evil King Ahab, had a reputation for murder, iniquity, and sexual promiscuity. She not only served as a thorn in the side of the prophet Elijah, but she also led Israel astray in their foreign worship of idols (1 Kings 18).
Now, we may have heard of Jezebel, but not all of us have heard of something known as a Jezebel spirit. The Bible never strictly has the words Jezebel spirit, but both the Old and New Testaments have negative connotations and symbolism surrounding the name, Jezebel.
Depending on one’s background, and denomination (most often from a charismatic background) the meaning of Jezebel spirit can differ. But we’ll go with the most overarching: A disposition, or demonic influence, that causes to create rifts in the church and in marriages through cunning, deception, and seduction.
Who was Jezebel? Are there different types of demons and how they operate? And where does this play into a Jezebel spirit?
The spirit of Jezebel is only capable of attacking the vulnerable, but how do you protect yourself when vulnerability is necessary to acquire and truly recept true love? The answer is, know that only true love comes in many shapes and forms but the only truly sovereign form, is built around the your faith and the glory of the most high!
Thousands of years after Jezebel existed in this world, she’s still considered the epitome of evil. Preachers don’t usually discuss the story of Jezebel, but there are many lessons we can all learn from the Bible, be it from good or evil people. The Bible uses examples to teach you what’s right and what’s wrong.
Lessons we all can learn from the story of Jezebel
1. Don’t waste your good qualities doing only evil.
There’s something good in evil, and there’s some bad in the best of people. What was good or bad about Jezebel? The bad list may be longer, but she did have some good qualities, although she used them for her evil ways.
Queen Jezebel was smart, but she used her intelligence to concoct her evil schemes. She was courageous and bold, but used these qualities to bully and intimidate her subjects. She also had strong leadership characteristics, but used this to control and influence her husband, the King, to do her bidding. Jezebel was assertive, but exploited this quality to make people worship idols and turn away from God.
2. Don’t misuse power.
Queen Jezebel used her influence and power to do anything she wanted. She even got away with murder and other evil things. According to 1 Kings 21:5-16, Naboth had a vineyard, which was next to the palace. Jezebel envied Naboth and wanted the vineyard for herself. When she went to ask Naboth to sell the vineyard to her, he refused because it was an inheritance from his father.
The queen was so determined to acquire the vineyard that she began plotting against Naboth. She wrote letters to the elders with false accusations against Naboth. She also committed forgery and identity theft using King Ahab’s seal on the letters she used to accuse Naboth falsely. She even convinced false witnesses to testify that Naboth had cursed God and the King. This got the King very mad, and he ordered the death of Naboth.
3. Serve only one God.
When Jezebel got married to King Ahab, she influenced him to abandon the worship of Yahweh and promote the worship of idols Asherah and Baal. King Ahab took his wife’s advice, and even made the people worship Asherah and Baal and decline God.
During King Ahab’s reign, the seventh King of Israel, the worship of God became almost non-existent. Altars built and dedicated to the worship of God were destroyed and replaced with temples and altars dedicated to idol worship.
Jezebel even used money from the Royal provisions to fund Asherah and Baal’s prophets during a severe famine in Samaria. She plotted to kill the prophets of God, and there only remained a few, including Prophet Elijah, who had to flee for his life.
This reminds us that there’s only one living God, and all praise and glory should be to him. When Jezebel turned against God, her death was gruesome, just as Elijah had prophesied it. She only lived ten years after Ahab had died in a battle. King Jehu, who took after Ahab, ordered Jezebel’s court members to throw her out of her window.
King Jehu ordered her body to be taken for burial. After all, she was a princess and a king’s wife. When the servants went to honor the King’s request, they discovered only her skull. Stray dogs had consumed the rest of her flesh, just as prophet Elijah had prophesied earlier.
Jezebel experienced a gruesome death because she transgressed against God and her evil deeds against the people of God.
The name Jezebel has been associated with conniving, evil, or bad reputation. No one wants to be called a Jezebel, and definitely, no one would call their daughter that name.
In today’s society and the western way of life, women are more promiscuous and hypergamous than ever. That of the virtuous woman seems to be a mere memory equivalent to the extinction of a species. Everything in today’s world is surface level attraction delusional desires and instant gratification, what has become of the male female relationship? The majority of women in today’s society are selfish cynical and delusional. Most harness the narcissistic behavior and character of the Jezebel spirit. Men are not perfect and women are not the only narcissist of a definite kind. Women control access to sex men control access to marriage, most relationships and marriages end due to the female decision. Women use sex to control and manipulate men.
If women control access to sex, then who’s responsible for most infidelity? Statistics proves that women are 80% more likely to cheat and initiate break up’s than men. The behavior of the entitled modern day woman is similar to the character of the black widow spider, she gets what she wants then destroys the male. Men are simple creatures, they only want peace and sex from their significant other. Women are more complexed because they are emotional beings, that need continuous stimulation. Their desires and expectations are unrealistic, in which is ammunition for the Jezebel spirit they harness. The spirit of the Jezebel destroys a good man and traumatizes him forever. Like a energy vampire they suck the life out of a man, leaving him to feel depleted moving on to the next soul.
This is why it’s important not only for men but the righteous virtuous woman to protect their energy at all cost. Once a weak soul is damaged and conquered it witness eternal damnation in the realm of hell. Not only men but everyone, must be mindful of the company they keep and the individuals they allow in their lives. If their presence and energy is not serving you, it’s disturbing you. We must not be enticed by the naked eye or the beautiful false hymns entering the ear for soul purpose. The verdict for the soul is not determined by its outer beauty but by what’s hoarded in the heart. The Egyptians understood this, which is why every organ was extracted from the body besides the heart in the mummification process at death. The heart was the only organ left inside the body for judgment of the soul in the next life.
